Flowing Tears - Thy Kingdom Gone

So, I just got my hands on the new Flowing Tears CD! And…It is FUCKING EPIC!!!I rarely say something like this, cause I hate when people do it but, if you give this album a honest listen, and don’t like it…Then you don’t like metal.Period.It’s their darkest sounding album yet, to me.The instruments are much more prominent than on past albums, Helen’s voice is wonderfully haunting, and the lyrics are epic, and beautiful, especially for me on the tracks “Words Before You Leave”, and Colossal Shaped Despair”.

The band has said it’s their most personal album ever, and if that’s true, I hope they have many more emotions to pour out into their next work.I loved them for a long time, since about a year after they first formed, when the lineup was quite different, and they are better now than ever!!!It just goes to prove, that it is possible for a band to live on and become much more powerful, even after tragedies like the death of two founding members, or the departure of a vocalist.I am sure wherever Björn Lorson and Cristian Zimmer are, they are proud of the band they created before they died. It’s awesome, that the band released this album 4 years to the day, after their tragic death…”Words Before You Leave”", also, makes me think of them…RIP.

Buy it now!!!

I'm really an idiot

Uggghhh… Today, was not a good day with the new Laptop! It randomly decided to not accept connections to any network, and of course I called tech support, and followed their directions, which resulted in Windows no longer booting. So, they told me pop in the disc, and let it perform startup repair. Done. Did nothing. Finally I just got frustrated with them telling me to do that over and over, so I just reinstalled Vista. Which sucked, because I did not have a chance to backup everything beforehand.

Lesson of the day: Let Onecare back up everything automatically at least once or twice a week. Slows the PC down when it’s running, but, wow, I wish I had left it on. I have an external driver, with a terabyte of space, but, I didn’t let it do that. STOOOOOOOPID Adam -.-

Mary Demurtas is an epic win!

Yay!!! I have been trying so hard to get my hands on anything from Alight, because I wanted to hear what Mariangela Demurtas, the new vocalist for Tristania, sounds like, when she is not singing old Tristania songs… All I can say is wow =)

She is not Vibeke, actually I like her voice quite a lot better. I guess everyone has different taste, but, there is no debating that girl has an awesome voice! They may not like her with Tristania, but, she has a powerful voice and I really can’t wait to hear a new album with her on it! It’s just sad to me she will probably suffer the same fate as Anette from Nightwish. People just won’t give either one a fair chance, and let them be who they are, rather than expect them to be their predecessors.

But anyway, yeah, I think Mary has an awesome voice. Might not suit some because everyone is different, but, I think once enough new Tristania stuff is released, and she isn’t forced to sing as many Vibeke songs, she’ll really be amazing! Because hearing her sing her own style prior to Tristania, she is flat out fucking awesome.

Writer's Block: The Beatles

In their heyday, The Beatles were the center of the pop universe. Many groups have been hailed as the next Beatles, but does pop music even have a center anymore? Who represents the core of pop music to you?

View 500 Answers

I am not a pop fan at all.But I can say that I don't really feel any music genre has, nor should have, a center. When a band like the Beatles or any other takes the stage, and becomes so massive, it gains a following by people, that it doesn't always deserve. What I mean is, a lot of people jump on the fan wagon, because everyone else is, it's trendy and the thing to like. Not because the music is deep, or touches them. That is a disrespect to art, music, and the artists themselves.

I think no genre should have a center, and one reason I gravitate towards metal, is it is very emotional, it is true art, as it is all different, and is purely the expression of the artist's soul in a given moment.Pop and rap, and other genre's have become so trendy lately, that it is not art. It's everyone putting out songs with the same, or similar lyrics, just because it sells.Big rims, pretty girls, telling us how much money they make, how hard life is as a famous person, telling young boys and girls to be violent and/or promiscuous, etc.

Being that I love music so much, I like something from every genre. But I hate when anyone or anything, is the center of it.Because it really just ruins the point of music, the point of art.Because all other's in a genre, tend to want to do what it takes to sell, not what it takes to express themselves. But everyone has their own opinion I guess!!

Definately a right.I pay my taxes and unwillingly support a fascist government. The absolute least they can do, is unwillingly give us healthcare/education plans equal to most other nations. They sacrifice our kids and loved ones to accomplish their wicked goals, steal our money to pad their pockets...the least they can do is make sure we stay healthy at home for free XD

Writer's Block: 2008 Election Issues

Which issues are most likely to get you to the polls come election day?

Sponsored by Blogs.com

Nothing. To quote Emma Goldman, "If voting changed anything, they'd just make it illegal".Truer words have never been spoken, and despite how blind some people want to be, it is really the truth. All that happens on election day, is the masses go out, under the illusion of power. They think they can make a difference, and that their vote might decide the election. It would be great if that were true. But it's not.If the people vote the way the government wants, great, and the illusion continues. If they vote against the governments wishes, the vote is tampered, or in the case of Bush, the courts overrule the people and flat out dictate what will, and will not happen.

Democracy is a lovely idea, it really is.But people don't seem to know what that means. In a democracy the people have ALL of the power, and the government obeys. In the USA, the government has the power, and the people obey.It is absolutely beyond my understanding how millions of people would rather settle for half assed freedom, and no power, when absolute freedom and power belong to them. They have the power to make the nation what they want it to be, to have freedom and advantages that they deserve, and rather than fight or argue for that, they settle and allow a leash and collar to be placed on them, and roll over on command. They should be making the commands.

Instead they hand control over to a bunch of rich men and women, who's only interest is more money for themselves, less taxes for themselves, and world domination.Rather than be here and raise a family, and defend only when attacked, they'd rather have children, then allow these monsters to send their babies overseas to die, so that they can spread intimidation and fear throughout the world and further assert their domination and control overseas, then cry when another nation strikes us here, begging for more of our babies to send out to pick another fight.

Spreading "freedom and democracy" in places like Iraq would also be great. But I think America should have freedom and democracy first, before trying to lecture another nation on how it works.Until you know how to bake, don't go into the kitchen and try to sell cakes.

Writer's Block: The Expendable Sense(s)

If you had to give up one of your five senses, which could you live without?

Submitted By [info]newbiepoet

View 500 Answers

The only one I could live without I guess if I had to choose, would be touch.Life would be empty without sound, because music is my life.It would be empty without sight, because there are so many beautiful places in the world I want to see.I like food, so, I'd need taste =P I also couldn't do without smell. But touch...Through the other senses the ability to touch could be made up for I guess.I could still play music, could still listen to it, see the world, and enjoy food XD

Aug. 17th, 2008

Hmmm...

It's like, 10:55pm and I just realized I have been sitting staring at the wall next to my bed thinking for about 3 hours now while listening (well not really paying attention) to music playing XD And I'm really bored right now, and can't sleep cause of my back, so I will think in my blog, and you get to read it =P Poor you!!!

I don't know if it's living alone in a tiny town, getting bored with my work - or what, but I keep finding it really hard to get motivated in the day -.- I wake up and I don't want to get out of bed, and I don't care at work.Which is bad considering the job that I do =P ...I guess I kinda saw myself in a different place by this point in my life.Plus my back has been hurting really bad lately and hopefully my doctor appointment tomorrow will help with that.I'm not sure what I've done to it, but I woke up today, and it hurt so much I just about cried which I found really strange cause I never cry about stuff like that. But it hurt to even move my arms or legs I didn't want to even be awake =P So I think I must have hurt it pretty bad at work somehow =/

I'm pretty happy though when I talk to my friends, it's just too bad my friends are all either back where I grew up which is so far from here, or in another country which is even farther =P Maybe I get this way because I get lonely cause I don't know anyone here and live so far from anyone that I do know(this little town is just full of very old people and its very hard to relate to them XD)I'm always pretty scared to make big changes cause I'm afraid I will fail at it.But maybe thats why I am like I am right now XD Maybe I have to quit my job, sell my house and car, and use the money to start differently XD

*Looks at bed* It looks pretty comfortable.I think I'll try to sleep, then wake and do it all over again.Sorry for the boring blog and whining so much =P Blahhhhhhhh XD

Linksys is a Epic Failure.

Two days ago, I bought a Linksys Wireless Adapter WMP110.I had been using a Linksys usb54g, which worked fine. But I got tired of having usb cables everywhere. So I shopped around for a Vista compatible internal wireless card.I found really, the ONLY one in the electronics shop, that said it was Vista ready, with this card.So I pay 60 dollars for it, take it home, and according to the directions, install this piece of shit.Start the computer back up, the install finished, and I connected to my network.Literally 1 minute later, connection dropped. So I'm thinking what the heck...But it has happened before, I restart my computer, and my wireless router and all.Same thing happened.Connection dropped this time, after about 1 minute 20 seconds. It would not connect again, and this time, after trying to reconnect 3 times, I got a blue screen crash.Lovely...So just to narrow it down, I reinstalled my old wireless adapter. It worked.Never had a problem.

Now I have been bullshitted by hardware manufacturers before.I bought a 300 dollar ATI card, that said it was Vista Compatible, 100%.The salesman said it would work, ATI said it would work (This was their reccomendation after a FAILED card I had before, that ALSO said it worked with Vista, and DID NOT)So I bought it, took it home, and after days of trying to get it to work, I finally did, using some OLD xp drivers. So sure it works with Vista, if you want to spend 4 days digging around the web and rigging your own set up to force it to work...

Anyway, so I took the wireless adapter, put it into an XP machine.Works fine, holds connection, never crashes.Greaaaat...So I looked on Linksys' website, to see if maybe there were some newer drivers. Not surprisingly, the website did not have this card listed under Vista supported. And under that list, it said, "If you do not see your adapter listed here, there is no plan to support it with Windows Vista".Fucking liars -.- Just like ATI, to sell their bullshit, they say it works with a system, that it was not designed for, and is never planned to work with.So in abit of a rage I will admit, I called Linksys, and let it all out.The lady on the other end played stupid, and said their website has the drivers.I asked her for the driver version, and she gave it, "off the site".Yeah, thats the version number it listed on the site alright.Except *gasp* while viewing the same page, same site, (I asked) I'M seeing that it says XP drivers ONLY and no plan to support it with Vista. She is saying, it says it is FOR Vista. So not only do they lie on the box, they lie on the phone.Nice.

So, long story shortened up a bit, I am about to leave to go return this piece of shit card. There is no problem with Windows Vista. What makes this operating system so annoying to use, is that these motherfucking hardware manufacturers, to make a buck, rather than ACTUALLY making their hardware compatible with Vista, just slap the "Vista Ready" badge on all the boxes and hope you don't call them.Ridiculous.Sorry for the rant but gah =P It's annoying as hell when you spend the better half of 100 dollars on something that was falsely advertised, and you were flat out lied to about it. -.-

The Box...

Clearly *sorry for cell phone cam quality* Has the "Certified for Windows Vista" badge.Oh and also, to see if it was just my problem, even though I was sure not since their own site SAID it is not planned for this card to be supported for Vista, I checked around, which I wish I had done before I bought it (lesson learned).MANY Vista users, are having the same problem with this card.
